Save the fairways + Domestic Cuts

If your ball lands on the Fairway, Players have the option to move and place in the nearest side of rough, no nearer the hole. This will help the fairways recover after the sanding. Placing every where within 6 inches.

Domestic cuts are in play, 2 shots for a win & 3 for each subsequent win. Handicaps are reset on the 1st of Jan 2022. All winners will have their wallet topped up by €40.

When playing in Competition, use your full Playing Handicap on the card as the minus 2 shots are calculated at competitions

Into the Final they Go !

The result of last Fridays games played by 3 teams at home in Butter Mountain and away in Hermitage by 2 teams resulted in 3 won, 1 lost and 1 tied on the 20th hole resulting in a win for Dublin Mountain
The 3 winning Points were won by:
  1. Michael O'Brien and Michael O'Sullivan 4and 2 on the 16th Hole in Butter Mountain.
  2. Hugh Behan and Terry Kirwan on the 19th hole in Butter Mountain.

Matches 2 and 3 were extremely close games throughout with each of our teams coming back from early setbacks to eventually clinch the winning points.
The 4th match played by Brian Campbell and Eamonn Carroll in Butter Mountain was still in play and tied at the 20th hole. but as we had just achieved the 3 winning points there was no need to conclude that game.

The final will now be hosted and played in Elm Park Golf Club on Tuesday the 5th October at 10.30 am

Once again Many thanks and congratulations to all who participated and and all who attended to support the teams.

The result of yesterday's game meant that the winner of the match qualified for the quarter final play off matches to be played by the 10th September.

Team 4 Gerry Flood & Peter Behan won on the 18th hole.
Team 5 Michael O'Sullivan & Michael O'Brien won 5 & 3.

Team Captain, Terry Kirwan (Salmon jumper)
Foreground John Reid

& The winner is ...

On a very pleasant (albeit grey) day at the course, a burst of colour stood out for the singles Match Play final.

After a nip & tuck battle Kevin Behan edged out Ray Dunne by 1 hole, if this was the seniors tour Kevin Behan would have won €950K and Ray €500K but because Ray also finished 2nd in the Doubles Final he would hypothetically by a paper millionaire.

Many thanks to all those who participated and to Ger Cantwell  for his patience in organising it all.

Brian Cruise, Captain 2021 (Mike pence has stepped in for Damian Byrne who due to work commitments has reluctantly switched roles to Vice Captain).

Scorecard Marking Reversal of advice

Golf Ireland have now directed that Scorecards are marked in the traditional manner.

The marker writes in your hole by hole scores & after verbal confirmation then signs the Card at game end. They also write in your name where you would normally sign it, They then place the card into the slot in changing room desk.(Please do not swap cards after or before round).

>Golf Ireland info Here<

Newbies Guide updated May 21st

Rules for beginners - Golf Ireland

 World Golf Handicap Pocket guide

When inputting a card at an away course it will go onto your record automatically (if it's an official competition). If it's just a casual round with another Golfireland member you ( & you choose to submit a round)  will need to sign-in on the Golfireland app pre round, then input that card asap after game. (You must still be on-site at that club in order for it to work),
All society cards must be returned on the app too in the same manner as above, if you are having problems with the app send on a photo of your card, but only when you've exhausted the above advice.

Step 1: Install the howdidido app, When you submit 3 cards a Handicap index will be allocated.

Please put the 3 scorecards in an envelope marked "For Handicap" and leave at the course reception.

( In addition you can send a photo via email or WhatsApp to speed up the process).

After Handicap index allocation you will then have access to the HDID tee time booking system for Competitions and casual golf at the course.

Step 2: Install the Golf Ireland app, use this to track your Handicap index.

The pin number for registering is on the back of your Golf Ireland member card.

Step 3: (optional)  You may want to download a GPS Golf app.

To comply with the rules of Competition golf the GPS app can only give advice on Distance, not measure wind speed or direction etc. Try not to let such devices interfere with pace of play.

Example of a free App with the Course mapped on it is below

Course Handicap Table explained *May 5th update*

  • At the moment we are not accepting supplementary cards played outside of our Weds/Sat/Sun "Handicap Card Return" events, due to issues with the competition course.

Your current Handicap index is based on your best 8 scores from your last 20 qualifying rounds. When playing at home you are allocated a course Handicap based on this > Course Handicap Table.

  • If playing a Stableford/Strokeplay Competition you will receive 95% of your allotted Course Handicap

  • Only rounds played with WHS qualifying conditions will count towards your best 8 scores.
For those still reading:
When playing at an away Course your Handicap will change as per their Course Handicap Table. If it's a casual round it will be the full allotted course Handicap and if it's in a Stableford/Strokeplay Competition you will receive 95%

I know this is all very confusing for us all, but it will bed in over time.

Brian Cruise, Handicap Sec 2021   (slight amendment to wording, Stableford explanation deleted, Congu guide added  3/5/2021)

Great News, Courses set to reopen on April 26th

Following on from the April 2nd Golf Ireland update (see below)  tee times will be limited to 2 households for the restart, this will mean 2 balls for the majority of players at the club when the timesheets go live.
The course is shaping up very nicely in anticipation of next months return, the new course machinery is cutting very well, especially in the rough, so no more lost balls 😊
We will announce further updates closer to the opening date.
