A lot of effort has gone into improving the greens surfaces over the year, fundraising for top dressing sand, solid thining and sanding, Verticutting and fertilising.
If you are 1st out on the course on any day, be it for practise or for competition play The Onus is on the early players to play to the Temp greens if there is frost on the ground. Simply put the white flag into the Temp greens until there is a complete thaw.
Sometimes it will work out that 1 thru 8 will be on Temps & 9 thru 16 on the fulls, but on other days it may be so cold that the full course will be to temp greens.
USGA Studies:Play on frosted greensThe Problem:
Frost-covered turf on putting greens is susceptible to immediate damage from traffic. Ice crystals on and inside the plant can puncture cell walls and cell organs. When foot traffic occurs on heavily frosted turfgrass surfaces, entire plants can be killed, leaving foot-shaped patches of dead turf. Risk Assessment: Damage to the turf will occur immediately, and the symptoms of the damage become obvious as the turf grows. Healing may not occur until the next growing season begins.

16 Hole Course- Nov 1st review
NOV 1st update: Heavy showers in the late afternoon means we will be on the 16hole course for the foreseeable future.
Due to very poor ground conditions on hole 13, the 16 Hole route is in play.
Play 1- 7 as normal,
You will see a sign at 7th Green, directing you to play the par3 14th, this is the last hole of your front 8 holes.
then go to the normal 8th tee (which is now your 9th hole on the 16hole course) and play the normal route until you reach the 12th hole (which is now your 13th on the 16hole course)
For the final holes play the normal 16th.17th & 18th.
Mark your card as set out on the 16 hole card, do not swap scores on holes around.
The Computer ( and indexes ) has been set up to reflect the above
Enter scores onto computer leaving 17 & 18 as blank/0 and click enter.

Dublin Mountain Win at Dun Laoghaire
The course was in excellent condition and proved a tough but fair challenge for all the teams competing. The early scoring was good and for a long time it looked like the winning score would be 81 points. However a strong front 9 of 45 points helped Dublin Mountain, led by Captain Brian Cruise prevail and finish with a score of 88 points – winning by 3 points from Milltown with Courtown in third place on 84 points. Nearest the Pin was Fiachra McCabe from Grange Castle.
Thank you to Dun Laoghaire for making their course available and to all the staff for their help in making this an enjoyable day for all.
