BMGC News June/July 2023 20.6.2023
Dear Member,
Following
June’s committee meeting I wish to send members an update from the
committee in relation to forthcoming events, Inter club match play
competitions, internal match play competitions, Facility improvements
etc. Our job is to work on behalf of the members and to make your Butter
Mountain Golf Club experience a very positive one.
Some Notices for upcoming events include.July is a very busy month and we have both our own internal major competitions
• Saturday July 1stis Captains Day(Dave O’ Driscoll) • Saturday July 29th is Presidents day (Mick McKeown)
•
This year we are trying a novel idea and the plan is to have a social
and a presentation for both Captain’s and Presidents days on the night
of July 29th .We really hope you save the date&support the evening.
More details to follow
• Saturday July 8th is the Monthly Medal . •
Wednesday opens are on going and it is a great opportunity to invite
visitors to play for €15 and showcase the course. Ladies are most
welcome.
• The fixture list for the year on our public facing website link http://www.bmgc.ie
• Inter Club competitions Congratulations
to everyone who represented the club in the various competitions. The
results have been well documented with a series of very close near
misses. The hope is in time that we will get members who are prepared to
play in the competitions they are eligible for and represent the club as
it is a great experience and will strengthen the teams.
•
BMGC’s own internal club singles and Scotch Foursomes continue at pace
and well done to all those still remaining. The plan is to present the
winners with their prizes at the social evening on Saturday July 29th
• There is a new Club website www.buttermountingolf.ie
developed by the owners which will also assist us in centralising the
messaging in time. If you have any suggestions for improvements the
Ladies would love to hear from you
• The Committee are
continuously reviewing with the course how we best manage Sunday Morning
Golf. We remind you to book well in advance to secure your booking on
Sundays and we are really committed to getting increased activity on
Sunday’s. The more activity we get on Sundays will increase our capacity
for change. Your feedback and suggestions are welcome.
• Codes
of Ethics. The committee are reviewing a set of rules around the use of
Whatsapp which will be shared with all members after our next meeting. • The committee are also working on developing a club code of conduct for both on and off the course
•
Fundraiser The committee plan to have a singular fundraiser this
year. It will take the form of a raffle and we will be asking all members
to try and sell 4 tickets or indeed more. The raffle will be on
presidents night (our only social of the year). You will be hearing a lot
about this event in the coming weeks and it is really important we get
your support. I will be taking responsibility for coordinating this
event.
• The Committee have adopted Golf Irelands directives in
that a member is not entitled to win the top prize on the captains and
presidents day if they have not submitted 20 qualifying cards and have a
full GUI Golf Handicap. The good news is however, that you will qualify
to win one of the up to 20 other prizes on each day.
To win a medal you
must have 10 qualifying cards submitted and you still qualify to win all
other prizes available on the day. • Communication with Committee
If you have an issue or recommendation, we respectfully ask that you send a mail to buttermountaingolf@gmail.com
and it will be addressed at or prior to the next committee meeting and
responded to. We welcome feedback through this medium. The Whatsapp
forum was never designed to tackle any issues with sensitivities
attached so please use it for messaging, receiving club info and
securing playing partners as required.
Keeping you informed. Yours Sincerely
David O’ Driscoll Captain. |
