BUTTER MOUNTAIN GOLF CLUB
E-News

Dear Member

Firstly, Happy New Year to all the members from the Committee and looking forward to a great year of Golf. Following January’srecent committee meeting I wish to send members an update from the committee in relation to forthcoming events, Inter club matchplay competitions, internal match play competitions, Facility improvements etc. Our job is to work on behalf of the members and to make your Butter Mountain Golf Club experience a very positive one.

• The Breakdown of the Committee for 2026 is as follows as voted in at the last AGM
a. Captain Paddy Horan
b. President David O’ Driscoll
c. Treasurer George Moloney
d. Club Secretary Damien Byrne
e. Handicap/competition Sec. Brian Cruise
f. Committee Member Mick McKeown

• Increased Membership:
May we remind everybody that if you know of anybody who is interested in golf, no matter what level they are at, please encourage them to join and they will be most welcome to participate in our club. We always need new members.
• 2026 Fees:
a. We remind members that the club2026 GUI and Insurance fee of €65 must be paid to the committee as we have to pay both camps by the end of January. You can make a payment from your wallet for ease of payment or indeed reach out to our Treasurer (George) Club IBAN here > https://buttermountaingolf.blogspot.com/2025/12/club-65-fee-2026.html

b. The Course renewal fees are also available on https://buttermountaingolf.ie/membership/ with a scheduled payment option available over 3 months

• Some requests from the Office management that we would ask the members to comply with:
o The reception is a small area so please vacate once you have conducted your business/purchased tea or coffee. This will assist the staff who may also be dealing with Green fees whom they wish to have a discussion about possible membership options.
o Any tea/coffees purchased are to be consumed in the function room.tables are set up for use for our members to have their coffees & snacks
o If you are booked in and unable to play golf for whatever reason, please ensure you remove your booking from the BRS System
o The management remind us that they are fully committed to increased membership.

• It is the Committee’s intention to run a monthly team event as was suggested at the last AGM. This is also a great opportunity to engage with new and older members of the club.

• There will be a Gold Medal again Prize this year. The winners of the 8 monthly medals will go into a play off competition for the Gold Medal.

• Some members have asked about the transaction history of their wallet. If you require a breakdown then you are advised to message George Moloney or Brian Cruise privately and they will respond.

• Some members have also enquired about their Winnings. If you appear on the results at www.bmgc.ie then your wallet balance has been increased by €30. (a * beside your name denotes a lower prize value due to numbers playing)

• WhatsApp Group. The Committee welcome the use of the Whatsapp Group. Just to remind members It is designed strictly for

a. Arranging playing Partners
b. Posting results of Matches
c. Communicating Golf News of interest

• It is not designed for:
a. Continuous Commentary on every message posted
b. commenting on potentially sensitive issues

PLEASE Message members privately unless the message is of interest to the entire group and also please see bullet point on Communicating with the committee below

Some Notices for upcoming events include.
• The fixture list for the year on our public facing website link www.bmgc.ie

• Reminder for all players to repair divots, pitch marks and avail of the “save the fairway” options particularly as we remain in non- qualifying format. https://buttermountaingolf.blogspot.com/2026/01/winterspring-domestic-cuts.html

• The owners are committed to making improvements to both the course and the facilities and there is ongoing dialogue with the Committee. Some Course Updates will follow when we have a clearer picture for 2026.

• The Committee are reviewing with the course how we best manage Sunday Morning Golf. We remind you to book well in advance to secure your booking on Sundays and we are really committed to getting increased activity on Sunday’s. We remind you please to book on BRS after 8am and Howdidido before 8am.

• The Committee have adopted Golf Irelands directives in that a member is not entitled to win the top prize on the captains and presidents day if they have not submitted 20 qualifying cards and have a full GUI Golf Handicap. The good news is however, that you will qualify to win one of the up to 20 other prizes on each day.
